Cystistatin is a unique botanical blend formulated to promote a healthy urinary tract.

One of the key ingredients in Cystistatin is uva ursi extract which is standardized to contain 20% arbutin. Arbutin, particularly when combined with berberine sulfate, provides a powerful combination to help maintain healthy microbial balance in the urinary tract and bladder.*

In addition, marshmallow root soothes bladder and urinary tract discomfort. Celery seed extract and bladderwrack leaf are also included in Cystistatin for their ability to promote a healthy urinary passage.*

What is Cystistatin Used For?

Cystistatin is used to support a healthy bladder and urinary tract. The perfectly unique blend of ingredients provide antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and soothing support.

Ingredients

Ingredients

Uva Ursi Leaf Extract

  • The medicinal portion is the dried leaves, which contain arbutin, methylarbutin, flavonoids, allantoin, tannins, organic acids, volatile oils, resins and others.
  • Arbutin is converted in the alkaline urine to hydroquinone, a potent disinfectant.
  • Positive Commission E Monograph for inflammatory disorders of the urinary tract- with confirmed antibacterial activity.
  • Antimicrobial activity against: E.coli, Enterobacter, Helicobacter pylori, Klebsiella, Shigella sonnei, Shigella flexneri, Listeria monocytogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Berberine Hydrochloride Hydrate

  • Berberine concentrates in the bladder upon ingestion of Goldenseal.
  • Berberine sulfate blocks the adhesion of uropathogenic E. coli by suppressing the synthesis and assembly of adhesionmolecules (fibriae).

Marshmallow Root

  • Used traditionally for its soothing demulcent properties. As the urinary tract lining is inflamed during infection, this activity is likely to soothe these membranes.

Bladderwrack Leaf

  • Perennial seaweed found along the shores of Europe and America. It has been used for conditions associated with the bladder, although its name is probably derived from the bladder-like vesicles along its fronds.
  • Bladderwrack has been used historically as a diuretic as well as for cases of cystic irritations and chronic inflammations of the bladder.

Celery Seed Extract

  • Celery belongs to the same family (umbelliferae) as carrots, parsley and fennel. While most people associate celery with its stalks, celery seed has been used for centuries and still is today for its soothing, cleansing, diuretic and antiseptic qualities.
  • Celery seed contains a number of constituents that have antibacterial properties. It also is a diuretic, which increases urine output to clear bacteria from the urinary tract.
  • An extract of the seed from celery (Apium graviolens), and fractions thereof, have been found to possess anti-inflammatory activity, gastro-protective activity, and anti-Helicobacter pylori activity.

Helping with IC/E. faecalis infection

I developed all the classic symptoms of IC. My doctors recommended conventional therapies (bladder instillations and pelvic floor physical therapy), but I was certain that I had an infection that wasn't coming up on standard urine culture. After pursuing sequencing via MicrogenDX, I learned that I have Enterococcus faecalis in my bladder. This bacteria is resistant to many antibiotics and difficult (impossible?) to eradicate. My urogynecologist prescribed me hiprex to try to keep levels low, which initially helped, but then a few months later I started to flare again. I am now taking hiprex morning and night + cystistatin in the afternoon. I also take d-mannose as well. The cystistatin made a huge difference, and I am feeling the best that I've felt since all of this began. Sharing my story in case it helps any of my fellow bladder warriors out there.

Really keeps IC under control!

I am so thrilled to have found Cystastatin; along with d-mannose it has really brought me my lift back. I am able to work and travel again, and enjoy my family without worry or constant pain.

Ordering from Femologist is easy; delivery is on time and the price is good!

Seems to work preventing UTIs

Cystistatin in combination with D-mannose has helped me avoid having UTIs related to sex. I don't know if it's one product or the other, or the combination, but I take them after sex as prophylactic and it seems to work! I haven't had a UTI in a month (the time I have been taking cystistatin), and I used to have UTIs continuosly. So I will keep taking it!

A favorite supplement

I have been using cystistatin for years. It keeps my interstitial cystitis at bay. I was told about this supplement by a doctor several years ago and I like having several bottles on hand because sometimes it’s can be harder to find in stock. I am very happy to find a place that has it available.

UTI After Sex Prevention

As part of my comprehensive regimen for recurrent UTI prevention, I take one of these pills immediately after sex. I do not take it every day because uva ursi is not supposed to be taken daily for long-term use.
